WHITENING OF DEAD TEETH

It is possible to lighten not all kinds of discolourations of the tooth using traditional external way. Teeth which changed their colour as a consequence of endodontic treatment (canal), after trauma, or for other unknown reasons require applying internal whitening procedure
Before whitening procedure, taking an X-ray in order to state whether the root canal is filled correctly as well as whether near the peak of the root the inflammatory process is not in progress. Next the filling material is removed from the crown, and into its place the dental surgeon is putting preparation which by oxidizing tissues of the tooth contributes to its whitening.
Whitening preparation must be exchanged into new one every few days. The number of visits is made conditional on the degree of the discolouration of the corona dentis, however the whole process doesn't usually last longer than 2 weeks. After whitening the preparation is being removed, and the tooth is rebuilt conservatively. At first the whitened tooth is a little bit brighter from neighboring teeth, however within a few or a dozen or so days there comes to the dimming of the colour and adapting to the colour of neighboring teeth.

Some kinds of discolourations, such as developmental disturbances of tissues of the tooth or post-antibiotic staining do not always brighten during the treatment of whitening. In this case carrying out prosthetic restorations is necessary (veneers or prosthetic crowns). Whitening dead teeth should not be made at pregnant women and at children below 14 of year of age.
